International Burundian Women Organization (IBWO)
The International Burundian Women’s Organization (IBWO) has the goal of reaching all Burundian people in communities throughout the world. The IBWO aims to use education and mentorship to redirect youth from troubled paths while building stronger communities. While many are currently incarcerated, in foster care, have been deported or have perished due to inadequacies, the IBWO will bring our Burundian people back into our culture and traditions. We as a leadership would love to provide, positively impact, and educate the younger generation in the hope that as they advance and show growth the participants will give back to their respective communities. There is a need to invest in youth empowerment programs and accelerate awareness to create and enabling environment for the betterment of our communities. Over the next five year the IBWO will work to reduce the number of Burundians in foster care by 50%. Through education to parents the IBWO will improve the ability to raise their children with moral virtue and reduce the Burundian population with drug and alcohol addiction by 60%. Through mentoring and community involvement the IBWO will reduce the number of Burundians deported or incarcerated by 75%. With the assistance of community health care professionals and the use of donations the IBWO will increase the overall wellness and health of the Burundian community by educating them on the harms of substance abuse and proper personal care increasing the number of Burundians who become physically or mentally ill each year by 75%.
